Tan Sri Zaharah Ibrahim

Tan Sri Zaharah Ibrahim was born in 1952 in Johor Bahru, Johor. After completing her secondary education at Sekolah Tun Fatimah in Johor Bahru, she studied law at the University of Malaya and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) in 1977.
She then joined the Judicial and Legal Service and served as a Magistrate, Senior Assistant Parliamentary Draftsman, Deputy Parliamentary Draftsman, Director of the Intellectual Property Division in the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, State Legal Advisor of the State of Selangor and Parliamentary Draftsman.
Tan Sri Zaharah joined the Judiciary upon being appointed as a Judicial Commissioner in 2004. She became a Judge of the High Court in Malaya in 2006. In 2010, she became a Judge of the Court of Appeal and in 2015, a Federal Court Judge. Her last post in the Judiciary before she retired in 2019 was the post of Chief Judge of Malaya.
Tan Sri Zaharah is not a stranger to the academic world having taught at the Faculty of Law University of Malaya as a part-time lecturer and tutor. She had also given talks at various government training institutes and conducted in-house training for officers of the Judicial and Legal Service as well as High Court Judges. She also served as a member of the Qualifying Board under the Legal Profession Act 1976.
While serving as the State Legal Advisor of Selangor, Tan Sri Zaharah was a member of the Majlis Agama Islam Selangor and a member of the Board of Directors of several companies under the Majlis and of the Board of Directors of Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad. She was also a member of Selangor's Jawatankuasa Fatwa.
From 1998 until 2004, Tan Sri Zaharah served on the Board of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Prior to being appointed to the Board of Directors of PETRONAS, Tan Sri Zaharah was the Chairman of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.
